Last Saturday, we had our annual Halloween Party! Although there was some crazy winds going on, the experiments went well –the goop and lava lamps were especially cool– and we ate lots of food! But of course, the best part was the costumes! The Best Little Sister/Brother Costume Award went to Katherine Perello, our Princess Jasmine from Aladdin, the Best Big Sister/Brother Costume Award went to Ryan Bhuiyan, a.k.a. Waldo. Sorry about the late update! Recently, we had an outdoor event called Field Day, where we played lots of games. Tug-of-War was especially fun, and the snacks and drinks afterwards were very refreshing.
We also recently had our Senior Banquet, where we had an awesome dinner and thanked our wonderful seniors for all of the hard work they’ve poured into making this year the best yet for Hand in Hand. Special thanks went out to Jenny and Donna, our two program directors. We will miss you!!!

Hi everyone!
We recently had our first ever food event at Haynes Bridge clubhouse, with a very special guest, Natalie Keng (also known as the Chinese Southern Belle! Her website is: www.chinesesouthernbelle.com). We learned how to make dumplings from her, sampled some authentic Chinese dishes, and drank lots and lots of bubble tea! Special thanks to all of the parents who helped out with this big event, and to the people who came out. We hope you had a wonderful time!

This past Saturday, we had our Karate Kid event! We made ninjas, watched an awesome demonstration, watched Karate Kid (starring Jackie Chan and Jaden Smith), and ate lots of yummy snacks!

We had our annual Chinese New Year celebration at the Glen Abbey Clubhouse on Saturday, January 22. We watched traditional Chinese performances, ate lots of great food, made crafts, and even roasted marshmallows!

Our annual Autumn Moon Festival was a blast this year! We got to make really cute take out boxes and lanterns to celebrate this important Chinese holiday. Besides the awesome crafts, we had some stellar performances too! Vicky played two amazing pieces on the guzhen, a Chinese harp, for us. We also had the Atlanta Professional Dance Academy girls perform a beautiful Chinese handkerchief dance called, Er Yue Li Lai. Last but not least we had a wonderful musical performance by Big Brother, Boyang Niu. He played a traditional Chinese …

Despite the clouds looming overhead, this season’s kickoff for the Big Sister program was a success! Although the day was a little cloudy to begin with, in the end the sun came out and we had lots of fun in the pool.

We had tons of boardgames and activities for the kids in the Medlock Bridge clubhouse along with snacks to munch on.

There were even water balloons and balloon animals.

Hand in Hand’s End of the Semester Party was held at the Oriental Pearl restaurant in Chinatown on Sunday, May 16th. All the kids and families went on a tour of Atlanta’s Chinatown first and got to tour the Chinese supermarket, Dinhao. For many of the adoptive families in the program, this was their first visit to Chinatown.

Spring is finally here! And what better way to welcome this colorful season than with a tea party? The weather was perfect so everyone got dressed up in their colorful dresses for some girly fun! The big sisters helped style the kids’ hair and everyone got their nails done. We baked cookies and cupcakes and had lots of fun outside! What a fun day!

Our March Hand in Hand event was lots of fun! For our second Mulan event, we watched Mulan II and learned about family. All the kids and big sisters had a great time watching the movie, doing crafts and munching on snacks!
